For guests attending practice days definitely head to the par-3 16th hole for a while, especially for the Monday and Tuesday practice rounds. There’s a great tradition of the pros having to skip their shot across the large pond in front of the green. The crowd goes pretty crazy. In fact, I saw Darren Clarke skip it about 20 times on the pond. His ball rolled up over the bank and into the hole for a ridiculous 1.
The nice thing about the practice rounds is that they’re never overly crowded thanks to the limited number of tickets and you can take your camera for those all-important pictures. If you are interested in practice day tickets please contact the office on 07788753611.
Augusta National Gates open before 7.30am for commencement of play at 8.00am. Following the ‘cut’ the tee time is at 10.00am on Saturday and Sunday. Please allow yourselves at least 30 minutes to get into the course and time to walk through the newly created practice area.
These are just some of our tour suggestions. However, please contact us for your personal À La Carte experience.

There's no better spot than behind the 12th tee. (Amen Corner) Get there early and don't move. When play rolls through, it's like being in a golf stadium. You get to watch approach shots and shots around the green at 11, the tee shot at 12 (which is always exciting) and the tee shot coming back on the 13th. If you can't get a seat in the bleachers, simply standing at this spot for an hour or two might be the best golf-spectator experience of your life. The biggest names playing the most famous holes. The fact that there's a concession stand nearby, as well as bathrooms, means you could conceivably stay until dark.
The problem with some of the best spots at Augusta National is that you're not the only one who knows about them. The driving zone at the 10th hole presents less of a challenge because of the way it falls sharply downhill, allowing unobstructed sight lines to the green without even standing on your toes. Factor in the towering pines that shield the hole on three sides and one of the best viewing areas at Augusta National is also one of the most serene.
Visiting the Augusta National Golf Club's gift shop is like spending rare time in a holy land. If you're lucky enough to visit, you're expected to share the wealth. Here's a list of some commonly-purchased gifts:
Columbia is the state capital and largest city in the US state of South Carolina. We keep coming back to Columbia as our main base during Masters week due to its diverse creative culture that can satisfy any appetite.
Columbia is famously hot with 300 days of sunshine on average a year. Through the day during April highs can be in the 80’s and lows around the mid 50’s. At night, plan on light breezes and more comfortable temperatures.
The University of South Carolina boasts some of the South’s most loyal and determined fans, and recently they have had lots to cheer about.
The South Carolina Gamecocks Baseball team won the national title in both 2010 and 2011. The season gets underway in February through to July. If there’s a game on during your tour why not join some of the staff and cheer on the Gamecocks.
The Columbia region is known for its many barbecue restaurants. Pulled pork is typically the signature barbecue dish; most of the barbecue restaurants offer fried chicken, savoury casseroles and vegetables. Many restaurants provide community tables, so you can mingle with the locals while sharing a pitcher of sweet tea - sorry, a BEER!
For the shoppers out there the options are limitless when visiting any of the city’s numerous shopping districts. From Main Street, Historic Five Points, Devine Street and Congaree Vista to the Columbiana centre there really is something for everyone!
Columbia’s Main Street combines historic structures of architectural significance with fresh retail and dining options. Anchored by the South Carolina State House on the Southern end, the street is home to fantastic nightlife, galleries and speciality shops.
For more than 75 years, Five Points has been the heart of independent restaurants, shops, antique stores, live music and eclectic boutiques. This vibrant and colourful neighbourhood – Columbia’s most bohemian – is well known for outdoor dining and people watching is especially popular with the collegiate crowd.
Tree-lined and picturesque, Devine Street is situated in Shandon, one of Columbia’s oldest neighbourhoods. Spend the day browsing this mile long stretch of upscale boutiques for men’s and ladies’ designer clothing, footwear, art and jewellery. Try and make time perhaps for lunch or dinner at one of the fine-dining restaurants or casual cafes.
Congaree Vista, once the city’s warehouse district, is a brilliant lesson in architectural adaptive reuse. Old textile mills and railroad station structures have been restored and repurposed as a hip arts community, with inspired restaurants and inviting shops. Galleries feature works from local artists, as well as art from around the globe.
There’s plenty to choose from in Columbia from Strictly Southern style food to Bistro style and most peoples’ favourite, a good steak house.
Bars are a plenty and you will be spoilt for choice ranging from quiet cocktail bars such as the Vault at the Sheraton to the World of Beer on the Vista.
We’ve selected a few of our favourites and we’re pretty sure you’ll like them too! Please see our recommendations below.
Conveniently located in the heart of the Vista, Blue Marlin specializes in traditional southern fare with an innovative twist. Featuring hand-cut steaks and fresh sea food, also offering an extensive wine, speciality cocktails and micro brews.
Saluda's features Southern cuisine with French and Italian influences to create a menu both familiar and new.
This is a restaurant for a more formal and special meal.
With Patio and Indoor dining the Motor Supply co Bistro offers the most diverse culinary dishes in the heart of the Congaree Vista.
Their menu changes daily for lunch and dinner, offering diners something new and delicious every time you go through the door.
They offer an eclectic blend of Contemporary American, French, Italian and Asian cuisine… something for everyone’s palate.
Cowboy Brazilian Steakhouse is a unique, all you can eat “Churrascaria” located in the historic Kress Building. Featuring a full Salad Bar with over 25 items, Brazilian Hot Dishes and a “parade” of 16 different types of meats sliced at your table by their Gauchos.
Along with a full bar, they have a beautiful walk-in wine cellar with fine selection of wines from Argentina, Chile and California. For a quick meal after returning from the Masters this is the place extremely close to the hotel.
Located in the beautiful Congaree Vista district of downtown Columbia, SC, Pearlz Oyster and Raw Bar is a fun, eclectic restaurant serving only the best seafood Columbia has to offer.
Pearlz specialise in serving only fresh and sustainable seafood in a casual dining atmosphere.
Carolina Ale House is good when you don't really know what you want to eat or if you're in a big group. The upstairs bar is really fun as it's inviting and you can spread out while still being there to eat! It's a bit of a hidden gem in the Vista. This is a great place if you have a free afternoon to relax and just watch the Masters on one of the many large screens they have upstairs.
Augusta during Masters week is extremely crowded, offers limited facilities, and all at vastly inflated prices. Columbia is about an hour away and offers all the facilities of a city. Our clients can walk out in the evening and find space in good bars and restaurants at sensible prices.
Gates open at 8:00 each day and close at approximately 6:30pm during Practice Rounds and 30 minutes after play on Tournament days.
Suspension of play will be signalled by the sounding of an air horn or similar alert. You should seek shelter immediately upon hearing the alert. One of our chosen high quality hospitality facilities is the perfect spot to wait out inclement weather.
*Personal bags, belt bags, purses no larger than 10"W x 5"H x 5"D are allowed.
**Cameras are allowed for personal use only on Practice Round days—Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Golfing attire is acceptable, shorts are permitted and comfortable walking or golf shoes are recommended. You may wish to take a wind cheater or a waterproof. Alternatively these can be purchased at the Augusta Club shop if required.
Your ticket will be provided to you each day upon arrival in Augusta.
All are within approximately 500 yards from the golf course.
The two most popular airports to fly from to Columbia from the UK are Manchester and London Heathrow. Either with Delta Airlines via Atlanta or US Airways via Philadelphia.
The coach will leave roughly 1 hour after the end of days play to allow guests to have a refreshing drink before departure.
